NextGen Phys Ed

NextGen Phys Ed: Our First Episode Is Live!

We’re excited to launch the very first episode of NextGen Phys Ed, a follow-along workout created and produced right here in Rhode Island!

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to build useful strength, confidence, and coordination. That’s why we created an engaging, at-home fitness program that blends natural movement, fun challenges, and age-scaled progressions for kids and families alike.

What’s Inside Each Episode

Each workout follows a kid-friendly structure that makes movement fun, challenging, and accessible:

  • A quick warm-up
  • Three levels of skill instruction so kids (and grown-ups!) can choose the version that matches their ability
  • A combo (aka circuit) that builds in intensity and difficulty over three rounds
  • A short recap to reinforce what they learned and encouragement to practice

Here’s what we practiced in Episode 1:

Ground Movement

  • Rocking
  • Rocking to figure-4 get ups
  • Rocking to squat get ups

Crawling

  • Knee–hand crawl
  • Foot–hand crawl
  • Underswitches

Balancing

  • Lateral and curtsy counters
  • Split squats
  • Deep knee bends

These aren’t just exercises. They’re foundational human skills that help kids move better, play better, and feel more confident in their bodies.

Why We Teach Movement This Way

Kids today don’t get as many opportunities to climb, crawl, balance, and explore.
That’s where NextGen Phys Ed steps in. When kids practice real movement, they become more capable in everything they do: school, play, recreation, and even future career paths. This approach follows the same philosophy behind Ninja training: start with the basics, level up with intention, and discover you’re stronger than you think.

Movement Disciplines That Inspired NextGen Phys Ed

NextGen Phys Ed is proudly influenced by several world-class movement systems, each bringing depth, creativity, and practicality to the way kids learn to move:

MovNat – the greatest movement system around. It’s our foundation at LbF, and we love it for its emphasis on natural human movement, real-world skills, and progressive, efficient training.

Parkour – for its focus on adaptability, problem-solving, overcoming obstacles, and developing confidence through challenge.

Animal Flow – for its playful, ground-based patterns that build coordination, mobility, and body awareness.

These systems have shaped the way we design workouts, select foundational skills, and create a curriculum that is both fun and beneficial for kids.

Our Goal for Families

We want parents to have an accessible, trusted resource for movement-based education; something simple, engaging, and designed to grow with their kids.

As NextGen Phys Ed expands, families can look forward to:

  • A full library of follow along movement lesson
  • Age-appropriate movement standards and progressions
  • Printable and digital activity plans
  • Partnerships with schools and community programs
  • Instructional videos for DIY equipment, so families can build simple tools to use with our workouts

Watch the Episode with Your Kids

Turn it on, try a round together, and see what your kids are capable of. This is just the beginning of a much bigger mission: raising the Next Generation of strong, confident movers, one episode at a time!
