Lyrical Inspiration

“Skin and Bones” by Cage the Elephant is equal parts vulnerability and resilience…

Nobody likes falling. It’s awkward, sometimes painful, and usually not part of the plan. So, it’s natural (and primal) to play things safe. However, learning how to fall and how to get back up are some of the most valuable skills we can attain (I know Rocky Balboa would agree!). Every time we take a chance, there’s a (strong) possibility it won’t go well. GOOD! The trick is to trust that we’ll know what to do when it doesn’t.

That’s why we practice things like falling, rolling out of a landing, or recovering our balance. Yes, it’s physical training, but it’s also training our brains to stay calm during life’s uncertain times. When we build confidence in our ability to adapt, we stop fearing the unknown. We avoid clinging to what’s comfortable and lean into challenges!

Although it’s difficult to execute (GOOD), we need to leverage our experience and believe that everything will be okay (#breathebelieveandgo). It (pretty much) always is. We’ve got the tools, the strength, and the experience to handle what comes next. So, if we stumble, no sweat. If we fall, we’ll tuck and roll, then we’ll get up, dust off, and keep moving forward!
