Adaptive Ninja Classes & Open Gym

At Laid-back Fitness, we've always believed that movement is for everyone. That's why we're proud to offer Adaptive Ninja Classes and Open Gym, our innovative programs designed to foster physical activity in a supportive environment.

Our Adaptive Ninja Classes and Open Gym provide unique opportunities for kids to engage in fun and challenging activities.

Every child deserves the opportunity to climb, jump, balance, swing, laugh, and experience the confidence that comes from accomplishing something they didn't think they could do.

But we also understand that not every child feels comfortable walking into a traditional sports program.

Some children need a quieter environment.

Some need a little extra time.

Some thrive with smaller groups, predictable routines, or individualized coaching.

These programs are designed for children and young adults who may benefit from additional support, including individuals with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, sensory processing differences, developmental delays, and other physical or cognitive disabilities.

Our goal isn't to make every participant perform the same way.

Our goal is to help every participant experience success.

Whether that success is climbing a wall for the first time, crossing a balance obstacle independently, participating in a group activity, or simply feeling comfortable in a new environment, every victory matters.

Why Ninja?

Obstacle-based movement naturally develops many of the skills children use every day:

  • Balance and coordination

  • Strength and endurance

  • Motor planning

  • Confidence

  • Problem-solving

  • Body awareness

  • Social interaction

  • Independence

The best part? Most kids don't even realize they're exercising—they're simply having fun.

A Supportive Environment

Our adaptive programs are intentionally designed to provide:

  • Small class sizes

  • Patient, encouraging coaches

  • Individualized progress

  • A welcoming, judgment-free atmosphere

  • Opportunities for families to connect with one another

There is no pressure to keep up with anyone else.

Every participant progresses at their own pace, and we celebrate every milestone along the way.

Adaptive Open Gym

Sometimes kids just need the freedom to explore.

Our Adaptive Open Gym provides a relaxed environment where participants can move, play, and practice skills at their own pace while families enjoy a supportive community of others who understand their journey.

We'd Love to Meet You

Choosing a program for your child can feel overwhelming, and we know every family has unique questions and goals.

If you're wondering whether our adaptive program might be a good fit, we'd love to invite you to stop by, meet our coaches, tour the facility, and see what we're all about.

There is no pressure—just an opportunity to discover whether Laid-Back Fitness could become another place where your child feels confident, capable, and excited to move.

Because every child deserves a place to move.

Every child deserves a place to belong.

And every child deserves the chance to discover what they're capable of.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are these classes designed for?

Our Adaptive Ninja Classes and Open Gyms are designed for children and young adults who may benefit from additional support while participating in physical activity. Participants may have autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, sensory processing differences, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, or other physical or cognitive disabilities. Every individual is welcome, and we strive to meet each participant where they are.

Does my child need previous ninja or sports experience?

Not at all! Most participants are completely new to ninja training. Our coaches modify obstacles and activities based on each person's abilities and comfort level.

Will my child receive individual attention?

Yes. We keep our adaptive programs intentionally small so our coaches can provide encouragement, guidance, and appropriate modifications throughout each class.

Can parents stay and watch?

Absolutely. Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay, observe, and help their child transition into the program if needed. We want everyone to feel comfortable and supported.

What happens during an Adaptive Open Gym?

Adaptive Open Gym is an unstructured time where participants can explore obstacles, play, practice skills, and socialize in a safe, supportive environment. Coaches are available to offer guidance, encouragement, and assistance as needed.

Is this a therapy program?

No. Our adaptive programs are recreational fitness programs, not occupational, physical, or speech therapy. However, many families find that regular movement, obstacle courses, and structured play complement the work their child is already doing with therapists.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable athletic clothing and sneakers are all that's needed. We recommend bringing a water bottle as well.

My child has sensory sensitivities. Is that okay?

Yes. We understand that every child has unique sensory needs. Our coaches work to create a welcoming environment and will do their best to adapt activities whenever possible.

What if I'm not sure whether my child is a good fit?

That's completely okay. We encourage families to contact us, schedule a visit, or attend an Adaptive Open Gym before enrolling. We'd love the opportunity to meet you, answer your questions, and help determine if our program is the right fit.

How do I register?
